Kevin Hernandez is an actor, comedian, and graduate of the Cinema and Television Arts program at California State University Northridge. He is also a writer, director, editor, and cartoonist.
A first generation American, El Salvadoran descent, Kevin was born and raised in Santa Clarita, California—though he spent much of his adolescence and adulthood scouring for good movies and comedy (and food) throughout Burbank, Highland Park, and Hollywood. Kevin began his theater training at 15 years old, performing in plays and teaming up with friends to put on sketch comedy and improv shows.
Since then, Kevin has graduated from the Upright Citizens Brigade, earned a Filmmaking Associate in Arts degree and a BA in Television and Arts from CSUN. His over ten years’ experience in improv comedy helped him to win the Annie Oakley scholarship for excellence in comedic writing from College of the Canyons, where he captained the improv comedy troupe ‘Copper Spaniel’ for two years. He has performed stand up comedy at a number of clubs, including the Ha Ha Comedy Club, The Federal Bar, and The Ice House.
Kevin is pursuing more involvement in both comedic and dramatic roles, onscreen and onstage. Although acting and comedy are Kevin’s main focus now, he continues to write, direct, edit, and collaborate with other Youtubers and filmmakers, as he loves to be anywhere near a camera. A multi-talented artist, Kevin has experience as a freelance cartoonist working for the Santa Clarita Valley Signal, and the Santa Clarita Gazette. He co-hosts the podcast ‘Midnight Bust’ with his lifelong best friend, with the noble intention of busting guts and saving lives—all while humiliating each other for your amusement.
Kevin has a passion for calling attention to topics typically deemed unsavory and profane. A bit of a cross between Adam Sandler and Tom Segura, he enjoys making audiences uncomfortable but not enough that they can stifle a laugh. His focus is on making the taboo a source of entertainment rather than squeamishness, and on forcing audiences to reconsider how decent of people they really are. He can play a real menace to society but on the other hand he has a genuine care for those around him, and loves to bring happiness into people’s lives. He spends his free time traveling to El Salvador, Washington, and Arizona to visit family and friends. And although Kevin is not one to miss a workout, he will never pass down a street taco or sushi. “You gotta eat big to get big.”
